Focusing on

MultiLinguAbilites operates from a strengths-based Neurodiversity paradigm. This means that we recognize and value the diversity of ways of thinking, learning, and communicating of each child. Instead of focusing on what may be considered "deficiencies" or "disabilities", we work with children and their families to develop their unique strengths and skills and support their development and growth over time. In addition, we promote the inclusion and participation of all children in school and community life.

Collaborative and Holistic

We collaborate with families and communities to create adapted ways and tools to support children's development and learning. We strive to understand the needs and challenges of each family and community and work together to find creative and effective solutions. In addition, we promote the active participation of families and communities in the learning process and in decision-making that affects their children and their environments. We believe that collaboration and teamwork are key to the success and well-being of children and their families.

Culture Background

Based on the needs of the family and child according to their language and cultural background, we provide individualized and personalized support. We recognize that each family and child is unique, and therefore we focus our efforts on providing support that is tailored to their individual needs and strengths. We work with families and children to identify their learning and development goals and develop personalized action plans to help achieve those goals. In addition, we consider the culture and language of the family when providing support and promote inclusion and respect for cultural diversity.

Works

The challenges faced by families, schools, and community life in providing support for the development of children integrating their language, cultural background, and neurodiversity shape MultiLinguAbilites' holistic and collaborative approach. FAQ´s About Multilinguabilities

What is the core philosophy of Multilinguabilities?

We believe in embracing linguistic and cultural diversity through intercultural practice, to create a safe environment with understanding, respect, and acceptance among diverse cultures.

What distinguishes Multilinguabilities from other multidisciplinary service providers?

Neurodiversity is a cornerstone of our community at Multilinguabilities. We provide a nurturing environment where neurodivergent individuals are embraced, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. What also sets us apart is our integrative approach, tailoring unique and creative plans for individuals based on their pre-migration experiences, family dynamics, languages, and cultures.

Neurodivergence and Communication

What is neurodiversity and how does it affect my child?

Neurodiversity refers to how individuals can have unique differences in how their brain functions or processes information; examples of neurodivergence include Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Dyslexia. Neurodivergent children can grow up to be successful when they and their families are given strategies which are designed around their unique abilities. Our objective is to make sure your children reach their full potential.

How does Multilinguabilities approach bilingual language learning for neurodivergent children?

At Multilinguabilities, we focus on personalized methods that adapt activities to each child's unique needs, preferences, and comfort levels, supporting bilingual development in both their mother tongue and English. Our approach creates an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that nurtures language skills in a way that works for each individual child and family.

How does Multilinguabilities tailor language programs for individuals?

Culturally, Multilinguabilities tailors language programs by considering pre-migration experiences, family dynamics, and languages. After their initial assessment, children have programs designed for them based on their current abilities with achievable learning goals. During their program, our team will customize activities which utilize your child’s own interests and learning needs to foster improved communication.

What is total communication and how does Multilinguabilities promote it?

Total communication is a teaching approach that uses various means of communication, such as speech, gestures, sign language, and visual aids, to help individuals understand and express themselves effectively, especially those with communication challenges or disabilities. At Multilinguabilities, we emphasize total communication, ensuring learners can express themselves through multiple means.

Cultural Identity

What is the significance of intercultural practice?

Intercultural practice refers to the application of culturally sensitive approaches when providing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention services to children with communication disorders or difficulties. This approach recognizes and respects the diversity of cultures, languages, communication styles and pre-immigration experiences that exist within our communities.

How does Multilinguabilities celebrate cultural diversity?

Multilinguabilities celebrates cultural diversity by organizing events, fostering dialogue, and promoting cultural exchange, creating a vibrant, inclusive community where different cultures are valued and respected.

How does Multilinguabilities empower individuals to embrace their cultural identities?

No matter where you come from, no matter what language you speak, Multilinguabilities believes that your identity and culture is something to be celebrated.

What is the importance of maintaining the mother tongue in language learning?

Our first language is an important part of who we are and where we come from. Without learning the language of their parents, some children grow up to have problems with their own cultural identity, communication barriers between them and extended family, or lose the benefits of multilingualism. Likewise, it becomes more difficult to acquire their mother tongue as they get older. By promoting learning in their mother tongue, your children can maintain full communication with all members of your family and community, and also feel secure in their identity without feeling like something important has been lost.

Family Support

How does Multilinguabilities assist families with neurodivergent children?

Multilinguabilities assists families with neurodivergent children by providing personalized plans, creating a supportive environment, and collaborating with clinicians to implement effective strategies.

What is the role of a family coach at Multilinguabilities?

A family coach at Multilinguabilities is a crucial team member who bridges the gap between families and clinicians, providing support, implementing strategies, and fostering understanding between cultures.

How does Multilinguabilities collaborate with families and communities to support children's development?

Multilinguabilities collaborates closely with families and communities, offering personalized bilingual services that enhance cognitive and social-emotional development, fostering inclusion and diversity.

Could you elaborate on Multilinguabilities' approach to creating an inclusive learning environment?

Multilinguabilities ensures inclusivity by embracing unique approaches, valuing diversity, and understanding individual needs, creating a learning environment where every learner feels respected and supported.
